Genesee Lake School is now seeking a Therapist to join their team in Oconomowoc!
Genesee Lake School, a MyPath company, is a nationally recognized employee-owned provider of educational, vocational, and therapeutic residential services. As a Therapist, you will:
- Provides formal therapy services that are individualized, address assessed needs, and are aligned with GLS foundational therapeutic approaches including trauma informed care and positive behavior supports.
- Supports the implementation and maintenance of ongoing therapeutic groups, as needed/determined by the Therapist and/or as outlined contractually with placing agencies, that address the social emotional, behavioral, and developmental needs and interests of residential students.
- Provides family support and/or therapy services that are individualized and aligned with foundational therapeutic approaches, including family sessions, education and skills training, and/or caregiver-child relationship support.
- Creates an individualized therapy plan for each assigned student. Reviews and updates therapy plan every 90 days, or more frequently if warranted. Develops measurable goals and objectives that have a basis in trauma-informed care and positive behavior supports.
- Documents student therapy sessions, group work, family support/therapy, assessment/consultation, and phone contacts within therapy notes. Therapy notes are documented in a timely manner.
- Creates and delivers team-based trainings for program and education staff, as needed, requested, or assigned related to student diagnoses, presentation, and therapeutic needs.
- Develops and monitors safety plans for at risk behavior (suicidality, SIB, etc.) for their assigned students. Offers consultation, as needed for all other safety plans, under the direction of the Director of Therapeutic Services.
- Consults with the multi-disciplinary team, as necessary/requested to ensure comprehensive care is provided.
- Monitors protection of all rights and reports any violations according to company policies, state and/or federal regulations. Keeps current on ethical and clinical standards outlined by licensing entities, the American Counseling Association, and related professional associations; adheres to practical guidelines established by those entities.
- Ensures services are provided in accordance with COA standards, funding sources, licensing agency requirements, and company policies/procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned/delegated by supervisory staff which may not be specifically provided for in this description, but reasonably fall under the auspices of this position.
- Conducts self in positive, respectful and collaborative manner demonstrating proactive actions and decision making that foster supportive work relationships and a healthy and safe environment. Communicates effectively verbally and in writing with internal and external customers maintaining professional conduct and confidentiality.
- Engages in continuous ongoing education to remain current on trends in services and other related areas; attends conferences, workshops and other training as needed and shares this new information with department. Researches and implements therapeutic approaches appropriate for the unique needs of GLS students.
- Complies with and positively reinforces with others the expectations outlined in: Company Handbook; policies and procedures including emergency/disaster procedures, fire/tornado safety and maintains confidentiality.
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or related field required.
- License (LPC, LCSW, LMFT) required (or license eligible within 6 months of hire date)
- 3-5 years of professional therapist experience preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge, skills and experience supporting children, adolescents and/or young adults diagnosed with emotional, mental health, neurological and/or developmental disabilities.

- Schedule: M-F, generally 9-5pm with ability to flex hours
- Salary: $62k- $65k Annually + Full Benefits
- Biweekly, guaranteed salary regardless of client cancellation.
